Jamal Adams continues to find himself in trouble with medical personnel. On Sunday, the Seahawks safety had a run-in with a concussion doctor, which resulted in a hefty fine from the NFL.

The league slapped Adams with a $50,000 fine for comments made towards the doctor, as well as inappropriate physical contact. The incident occurred in Seattle’s game against Cincinnati last weekend.

Adams’ confrontation with a doctor was the second time in a three-week span. The safety also had an exchange with a medical professional during the Seahawks’ Week 4 showdown against the Giants. Because he was diagnosed with a concussion, the NFL decided not to fine him.

Seattle dropped last week’s game to Cincinnati 17-13. Adams finished the game with four stops, including a tackle for loss.

Adams has appeared in just two games for the Seahawks this season. He’s accounted for six total tackles. Seattle owns a 3-2 record heading into Sunday’s game against the Cardinals (1-5).

Adams is in his seventh NFL season in 2023 and his fourth with the Seahawks. He has earned three Pro Bowl selections over the course of his career.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll commented on the situation involving Adams.

“There was some exchange there that we’re totally regarding and respecting, but it’s a league issue so there’s nothing we can do about it,” Carroll said, per ESPN. “… But we’re going to support whatever the league says we’ve got to do here and I know Jamal will take care of it.”

Jamal Adams released apology after first outburst

After his first incident a few weeks ago, Adams realized his actions were inappropriate. He released a statement, apologizing for his behavior.

“You did everything right when you realized I was concussed, I apologize for any negative energy I brought your way,” Adams posted on social media. “Watching the replay, I am thankful for your patience knowing I wasn’t myself in that moment. You’re a real one and you serve a great purpose that benefits the NFL and so many players.”

Because of the apology and the situation, the NFL opted not to fine the defensive back. But with a second incident, the league really had no choice but to issue some sort of punishment. If it happens again, the consequences would likely be even more severe.

The past two seasons have been incredibly frustrating for Adams, who has played in just three games since the start of the 2022 season because of injury.
