Jameson Williams’ road to his Detroit Lions debut took a new turn on Thursday. He was seen running routes prior to Detroit’s Thanksgiving matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Williams tore his ACL during the national championship last year, but Detroit still wound up selecting him in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The former Ohio State and Alabama standout looks like he still has the speed that made him such a valuable weapon for Bryce Young and the Crimson Tide a year ago.

It’s another good sign that he could be nearing his first NFL appearance after returning to practice earlier in the week.

Last year at Alabama, Williams had 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns to lead the Crimson Tide in receiving. The Lions traded up to draft him No. 12 overall right after two of his former Ohio State teammates. Garrett Wilson went to the New York Jets at No. 10 overall and Chris Olave headed to the New Orleans Saints at No. 11.

Jameson Williams returns to Detroit Lions practice

He’s back. Former Alabama star turned Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is was at practice on Monday.

“Lions’ first-round pick Jameson Williams will return to practice today,” tweeted Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The blazing fast wide receiver hasn’t made his NFL debut yet, as he’s been hampered by a knee injury suffered in last season’s championship game loss to Georgia while a member of the Crimson Tide.

Regardless, the Lions are believers. They traded up to grab Williams in the 2022 NFL Draft. Now, they’re looking to reap the rewards. The move was lauded, and the wide receiver will be hoping to prove them right.

Williams is on the track to making his NFL debut, and getting back on the highlight reel.
