New York Jets (5-8) quarterback Zach Wilson is out for the remainder of Sunday’s Week 15 road contest against the Miami Dolphins (9-4) after being diagnosed with a head injury during halftime, per Tracy Wolfson of CBS.

Wilson was taken to the locker room and replaced under center by Trevor Siemian. The 24-year-old isn’t believed to have suffered a concussion and is not in concussion protocol. Wolfson said in her original report that Wilson went into the locker room to get hydrated.

Wilson struggled mightily prior to leaving the game, completing 4-of-11 passes for only 26 yards. The Jets have just 46 total yards through nearly three quarters of play. Trailing 27-0, the Jets are all but guaranteed to fall to 5-9 and even further out of the playoff discussion.

That, of course, would essentially bring an end to any hope for an Aaron Rodgers comeback in the final three games of the season. Rodgers, making his way back from a torn Achilles he sustained in Week 1, participated in practice on Thursday and Friday. According to head coach Robert Saleh, he looked “normal.”

“He pushed it a little bit yesterday,” Saleh said. “He went under center, was running boots and was jogging from drill to drill… Looks normal to me. It’s unbelievable. Credit to him, especially in this day and age where a hangnail can affect a game week. This dude is grinding to try to get himself back. It just shows how much he cares. I have an appreciation for him.”

Rodgers’ 21-day practice window closes this Wednesday. New York has until then to activate him to the active roster or leave him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season. Adam Schefter of ESPN said the Jets are likely to medically clear Rodgers this week. However, Schefter cautioned that it doesn’t mean that he will be back in the lineup in time to play the Washington Commanders (4-9) on Christmas Eve.
