The injury New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson suffered on Thursday in practice doesn’t appear too serious. That’s great news for the offense as the 2023 NFL season approaches.

Per Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team, Wilson sustained a low-ankle sprain during Thursday’s training camp practice. He limped off the field after suffering the injury.

The good news? Wilson was back on the field Sunday and didn’t seem to have much trouble with the ankle. Head coach Robert Saleh did say the Jets will be cautious with the young receiver.

Wilson is coming off a 2022 campaign in which he was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. The 10th overall selection from the 2022 NFL Draft hauled in an impressive 83 catches for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns.

The Ohio State product made an immediate splash in the NFL and expectations are higher in 2023, especially with Aaron Rodgers now under center.

So, while the ankle injury is something to keep an eye on, it sounds like positive news for the Jets and the star receiver. Hopefully Wilson doesn’t aggravate the injury any further during training camp.

Aaron Rodgers makes bold comparison for Garrett Wilson

Wilson has only been in the league for one season. He hasn’t even completed a full training camp with Rodgers. But the legendary quarterback is already comparing the former Buckeye to one of the top receivers in the NFL.

Davante Adams.

Rodgers told the New York Times that he believes Wilson has similar qualities to Adams. And Rodgers would know, he spent significant time throwing to Adams while with the Green Bay Packers.

“Davante is in a class by himself,” Rodgers said. “But that 17 reminds me of the other 17.”

Wilson returned the favor with some major compliments of Rodgers. You can tell the receiver has an incredible amount of respect for his new quarterback.

“He’s so cerebral and so smart and knows ball to the point where whatever he tells you to do out on that field is the right thing to do,” Wilson told the Times. “And a lot of times it is about ball. We haven’t graduated to the point where we talk about anything yet, but I’d like to think we’ll get there.”

“He saw something in us. That’s Aaron Rodgers. I trust what he sees. I trust his eyes.”

There are still a lot of unknowns in New York, but this is one of the most anticipated seasons for the Jets in recent memory.
