In case you were wondering where Aric Almirola would go in 2024, Coach Joe Gibbs gave up the ghost at the Commanders game. While in attendance for Washington against the Miami Dolphins, the NASCAR team owner was speaking with NFL team owner Josh Harris.

Coach Gibbs loves going to Washington football games still. He even brought along Christopher Bell this weekend along with some other talented drivers. Aric Almirola was among the group.

Harris is also invested in Joe Gibbs Racing via Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. In a video from JP Finlay of NBC, Coach Gibbs introduces Harris to Almirola saying, “Aric’s driving for us now.”

There you have it, Aric Almirola is back with Joe Gibbs Racing.

I think this is awesome. This likely puts Almirola in the No. 19 car part-time perhaps with Ryan Truex and others making starts? That all-star car is always a lot of fun and should be again in 2024. The Xfinity Series is exciting and Almirola will help bring more competition and excitement to the series.

Earlier this season, at Sonoma, Aric Almirola was able to win the Xfinity Series race in a one-off race. He was great in that race and was able to hold off other Cup Series drivers such as Kyle Larson in the process.

Almirola is looking for a change of pace in his career. The full-time Cup Series schedule just isn’t what he wants from NASCAR right now. However, part-time racing seems to be right up his alley. It will be a lot of fun seeing him race for Joe Gibbs again.

Joe Gibbs Racing adding veteran talent

There is more good news, Joe Gibbs Racing is going to be announcing their full lineup soon. That means we will know for sure what Almirola will be doing for the team and how many races he will be in for 2024.

Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports followed up on that video of Gibbs and Almirola.

“JGR hopes to announce its full Xfinity lineup/plans in a week or so but expect Aric Almirola to be part of those plans as he shows up with Joe Gibbs at the Commanders game today and Gibbs tells Josh Harris that Almirola is driving for JGR now.”

Things seem to be moving along. Silly Season just has a few unanswered questions. There is a Cup seat or two that need to be confirmed. Xfinity Series and Truck Series drivers need to find spots and seats need drivers to fill them.

Joe Gibbs has a veteran anchor for his open Xfinity Series car. Let’s hope to see the extent of this relationship soon.
