Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo‘s rookie contract is fully guaranteed for the first three years of the deal and includes a $3.441 million signing bonus, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reported Wednesday.

“Panthers deal for second-round pick Jonathan Mingo: $8.856 million, fully guaranteed 2023 to 2025 years, $812,719 in other compensation in 2026, $3.441 million signing bonus,” Wilson tweeted.

Mingo was the No. 39 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. The second-round pick was one of five players selected by the franchise in the draft.

Four of the five players have signed their rookie deals with No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young being the only one who has not done so yet.

“I try to be the best version of myself,” Mingo said at his introductory press conference. “I like to look at everybody’s games, take what pieces I can, and see how they fit my game. … I like watching all receivers; I’m just a receiving guru.”

Mingo played his college football at Ole Miss, spending the past four years in Oxford, Miss., with the Rebels. He had his best season as a senior when he caught 51 passes for 861 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

He earned a spot on the All-SEC second team for his performance.

Carolina is in a rebuild with Young taking over at quarterback. But the Panthers could make a run this year in a potentially weak NFC South Division. With Tom Brady retiring, the top spot in the division is up for grabs among all four teams.

The team has added talent to the wide receiver room to help Young out on the field this year. In addition to drafting Mingo, the team signed former All-Pro wideout Adam Thielen and former Pro Bowler DJ Chark.

Mingo’s role in the wide receiver room and on the offense is unknown at this point. But it appears Mingo has made a good impression over his first few weeks with Carolina.

“He was everything we thought during the interview process, at the combine, and here on the 30 visit,” Carolina wide receiver coach Shawn Jefferson said in May, via Panthers.com. “He’s intact. He’s very mature for his age — very, very smart. He picked up things well. He’s a fast processor. So everything right now that we saw throughout the whole process is on par with what we’re seeing. Again, this kid is a self-starter.”
