In a triumphant return to NASCAR for the first time since his terrifying wreck at Talladega last year, Jordan Anderson is back. Anderson has been doing the team owner thing more this season as he got himself back into racing condition.

It’s been a long and hard road for the driver-owner to take, but he’s back. This time at Daytona in the Xfinity Series. The good news for Jordan Anderson, his team has been performing really well this season. His eponymous racing team has had some solid performances on the year.

That includes a Jeb Burton win at Talladega, the place where Anderson suffered his wreck and injuries. Meanwhile, Parker Retzlaff continues to improve as a young and talented driver in the Xfinity Series. He sits 18th in the standings, currently.

Now, it is Jordan Anderson’s turn to give these cars a spin. Anderson announced on Thursday he will drive a third entry for his team and Larry McReynolds will join him as the crew chief.

“It’s been an amazing journey seeing our team take off with Jeg and Parker this season, and it’ll be special to get on track with the both of them,” Anderson tweeted.

“After what happened at Talladega last year I’ve gained a greater appreciation for moments like these and definitely am going to make the most of this one.”

Jordan Anderson has two P2 finishes at Daytona in the Truck Series from 2020 and 2021. Back in the 2021 season, Anderson drove the No. 31 Chevy to a P5 finish at Talladega in the Xfinity Series.

Larry McReynolds joins Jordan Anderson for Daytona

The Daytona Xfinity Series race will also be the return of Larry Mac as a crew chief. Jordan Anderson picked a good one for his return. McReynolds has more than a little bit of experience of having good runs, and wins, at Daytona.

While the expectation in Anderson’s return will be to have fun and be as competitive as possible, I think this team will be focused on putting their car in a position to win. It is Daytona after all, anyone could come away with that checkered flag.

Last season, Larry Mac made his return for the first time in 22 years with Jeffrey Earnhardt and Richard Childress Racing for the Ag-Pro 300. Earnhardt led 10 laps and would go on to finish P2 in overtime. Oh, they also took the pole position in qualifying.

So, what can we expect from Jordan Anderson and Larry McReynolds? I don’t think it is fair to put expectations on this return. However, I’m hopeful we see a good run from Anderson as he returns to NASCAR.
