Davante Adams is ruffling feathers this offseason after just one year with the Las Vegas Raiders. The superstar wide receiver is seemingly upset with the team’s moves at quarterback this offseason — letting Derek Carr walk in free agency while signing Jimmy Garoppolo for three years and over $70 million to apparently be their new franchise QB.

Adams said he doesn’t agree with the recent front office decisions at all. Here were some pretty damning quotes from him sharing his thoughts on LV’s offseason:

“(The front office) thinks this is the best bet for us right now to put us in a position to be urgent. We don’t see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now. I’m going to have to buy into this and try to be as optimistic as possible. It’s not what I expected to happen, but it’s something that’s the reality now. That’s why I didn’t come here to just be cute with Derek. It is to really try and have a shot and change this organization.”

Nonetheless, Adams says he’s buying in, which he clarified at his next media engagement, assuring folks that he’s still committed to the Raiders and their leadership.

The Clarification

“At the end of the day, I’m a Raider and I’m excited to be here,” said Adams. “I love my head coach and I love the General Manager here. Everybody from the top to the bottom.”

Adams then chastised the media members for running with his words for the sake of clicks and said his comments were taken out of context. He also suggested that anyone who was bored enough to twist his words around ought to go play Monopoly “or some s**t.”

McDaniels responds

Head coach Josh McDaniels was asked about the incident this week and said that it’s “not really my concern that anybody necessarily adopts every vision that Dave or I have for the decisions that we have to make,” regarding Davante Adams. He did say that Adams has “an opinion and a voice” about what’s going on with the team, even if he’s not the one ultimately making the calls.

The Raiders head coach continued:

“And I respect the hell out of anything that (Adams) would say or suggest or anything like that,” McDaniels told ESPN. “During the course of the process of trying to improve our team, which, I know where Davante comes from, he’s a competitor. He wants to win, and that’s really his sole focus, and that’s what he does here every day. He’s here pushing himself, pushing his teammates. He’s been a tremendous leader again this spring for our football team.”

Davante Adams is free to voice his opinion and clearly feels strongly about the change at quarterback. However, that doesn’t mean he’s not going to give 100% effort and try to set every franchise record next fall, regardless of who’s taking snaps.
