Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster reportedly plans to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs this season, according to NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti. The veteran leaves the team which drafted him after five seasons.

After making the move, JuJu Smith-Schuster revealed the exact reason he chose to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs over other suitors.

“I am going to play with a future Hall of Fame quarterback, to play with one of the best to ever do it,” Smith-Schuster said, via NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti. “My goal as a player is to win, so I’m going to Kansas City with the hopes of winning a Super Bowl.”

Smith-Schuster began his career with future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and chose to come back on a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season to finish off that chapter. However, with a new era beginning there, he now turns his attention to playing with another talented quarterback alongside several other talented wide receivers.

Patrick Mahomes reacts to JuJu Smith-Schuster

JuJu Smith-Schuster shocked the NFL world with the announcement that he will be joining the Kansas City Chiefs, and no one is more excited than his future quarterback, former NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes, He took to social media just moments following the All-Pro wide receiver’s announcement.

“Turn me up brotha,” Mahomes posted on Twitter, responding to Smith-Schuster’s announcement that he will join #ChiefsKingdom.

Smith-Schuster has reportedly signed a one-year contract worth $10.75 million to join the AFC West powerhouse, which looks to be the strongest division in the league in 2022. He joins an offensive group which features Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Clyde Edwards-Helaire already heading into the 2022 season.

He had the opportunity to sign with the Chiefs last offseason, but he decided to stay with Pittsburgh on a one-year deal. Ultimately, his final year in Pittsburgh didn’t quite go as planned; he played in five regular-season games before sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury, which required surgery, on Oct. 10 against the Denver Broncos.

He was presumed to be out for the season, but he made a surprisingly early return to play on Jan. 16 for the Playoffs. Ironically, Smith-Schuster recorded five receptions for 26 yards in the Steelers’ first-round Playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
