Kansas City running back Isiah Pacheco falls through table following kick to head
This Christmas has been one to forget for the Kansas City Chiefs. On Monday, Kansas City hosted their longtime bitter AFC West rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs have owned the series between them and the Raiders as of late but fell 20-14 early on Christmas afternoon. But it was what happened to Kansas City running back Isiah Pacheco that added insult to their running back’s injury.
During a Chiefs failed third-down conversion in the third quarter, Pacheco’s helmet came off while being taken to the ground. And in the process, he was unintentionally kicked in the head by center Creed Humphrey. The Kansas City running back was taken to the sideline and evaluated for a head injury and possible concussion. But as Pacheco jumped on the table to be assessed, it abruptly collapsed, taking him down to the floor.

In the end, Pacheco would be taken to the back for further evaluation and diagnosed with a concussion, ending his day. When the former Rutgers running back left the game, Kansas City was in a 10-point hole, trailing 17-7. Pacheco’s day finished with 11 carries for 26 yards on an average of 2.4 yards per carry with one rushing touchdown.
Kansas City’s offensive struggles continue
The Kansas City offense failed to find much of a rhythm against Las Vegas on Monday in terms of their offensive standards from seasons prior. The Chiefs did outgain the Raiders in total yards with 308 yards of total offense to 205, and 223 yards were courtesy of their passing game led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City defense also did not allow a single Las Vegas touchdown. Unfortunately, the offense allowed the Las Vegas defense to score on back-to-back possessions. The first was on a Pacheco fumble inside of their own 10-yard line that was returned for the score. On the very next possession, Mahomes threw a pick-6, which defensive back Jack Jones returned 33 yards for the touchdown.
The Chiefs’ offensive struggles continued on Monday for the month of December. Kansas City is 1-3 in December, and in all three losses, they have failed to score more than 20 points. The Chiefs do have one more game to play on the 31st of the month, New Year’s Eve. Kansas City will host the Cincinnati Bengals in a Sunday afternoon showdown with major playoff implications at stake.
