In a shocking move during Silly Season, Kaulig Racing has announced they have signed Josh Williams to an Xfinity Series deal. Williams has piloted the No. 92 car for DGM Racing this past season. He’s been working with DGM and BJ McLeod Motorsports mostly in Xfinity.

However, his big break has finally come. Josh Williams is going to pilot the No. 11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet in 2024. That is great news for Williams. He was able to get his DGM team three top-10 finishes this season. Talladega, Atlanta, and New Hampshire.

After closing out the season with a number of solid top-20 finishes, Kaulig Racing liked what they saw. So, they’ve locked him down for the 2024 season.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce [Josh Williams] to take over our No. 11 Chevrolet full-time in 2024! [Alloy Employer Services] will join Kaulig Racing as a primary partner on his No. 11!”

Josh Williams is one of those drivers that makes NASCAR so great. He’s by all accounts a favorite in the garage, he has personality, fans love him. Let’s not forget when he parked his car on the start-finish line after NASCAR told him he was getting pulled off the track for leaving debris under caution.

Williams isn’t old but he isn’t young. Kaulig Racing gets a 30-year-old driver who has driven his own cars, worked on his own stuff, and has an appreciation for this opportunity. When everyone else is looking for the next 20-year-old talent – Kaulig said, not so fast!

Kaulig Racing still has more decisions to make

Williams to Kaulig might be my favorite thing the team has done in Silly Season. Chandler Smith left the team and is likely going to Joe Gibbs Racing again. Justin Haley in the Cup Series left for Rick Ware Racing.

So, they were left with Daniel Hemric and AJ Allmendinger. Hemric is going Cup racing while Allmendinger likely drives the other Xfinity Series car next to Williams. There are rumors, strong ones at that, which say Ty Dillon will be the other Cup driver for Kaulig.

Really, Josh Williams and his 10 career top-10s in the Xfinity Series make a lot of sense. He’s a tough-nosed racer that gets the most out of his equipment. So, let’s see what he is capable of doing in equipment capable of winning races.

I’m not going to say Josh Williams and Kaulig Racing are a lock for the playoffs. They aren’t, they have to earn it. But don’t be shocked when Williams has a breakout season in 2024.
