Every year, sports fans across the world open up gear from their favorite teams around the holidays. Jerseys are a popular gift, and one Detroit Lions fan was set to receive a Calvin Johnson jersey this Christmas.

The fan’s mother thought that she bought the jersey of the legendary NFL wide receiver. But when the gift was opened on Christmas, it was instead the jersey of Kerryon Johnson, a former Lions running back who last played with the team during the 2020 season.

That led to an incredible moment on social media, when Johnson had a hilarious reaction to the moment.

“My mom thought she got me a Calvin Johnson jersey but it was [Kerryon Johnson] instead,” the fan wrote. “Still lit though.”

Johnson knows that he isn’t quite on the same level of the Hall of Fame receiver.

“Boyyyyyy I know you was SICK,” Johnson responded, followed by laughing emojis.

In addition to being a Hall of Fame wideout, Calvin Johnson was a six-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro. He totaled 11,619 yards and 83 touchdowns in his nine-year NFL career, going down as an all-time great.

Kerryon Johnson didn’t have quite the same level of success with the Lions, but he was a serviceable running back during his time in Detroit. The Lions drafted Johnson with the No. 43 overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Auburn.

As a rookie, he had 118 carries for 641 yards and three touchdowns, adding 32 receptions for 213 yards and another score. During his second season in 2019, Johnson had 113 carries for 403 yards and three touchdowns, also tallying ten receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown.

In his last season in Detroit in 2020, Johnson had 181 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground, adding 187 yards and a touchdown through the air.

At Auburn, Johnson was a productive weapon out of the backfield. After totaling over 1,000 rushing yards through two collegiate seasons in 2015 and 2016, he broke out in a big way for the Tigers as a junior. During the 2017 campaign, Johnson had 285 carries for 1,391 yards and 18 touchdowns, adding 24 receptions for 194 yards and another score.

Johnson last made an appearance in the NFL in 2021, where he played one game for the San Francisco 49ers. He has also spent time in Philadelphia on the Eagles’ practice squad.
