Every week Kevin Harvick picks his favorites for the NASCAR Cup Series. This week the series heads to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600. He got a taste of the Next Gen car again last week at North Wilkesboro so Harvick could be refreshed this week.

Kevin Harvick is still freshly retired. It hasn’t quite been an entire year, yet. So, he has an understanding of the car and the drivers on the track. He’s raced against all of them. I tend to take his predictions with a little more salt than others.

The Coca-Cola 600 is a big deal. Memorial Day Weekend is the best weekend in all of motorsports. Indy 500, Monaco, Coke 600 – it’s a perfect day of racing.

Harvick is looking forward to the NASCAR action, though. And (hopefully) seeing Kyle Larson do the Double.

“I’m going to pick Chase Elliott this week,” Harvick said.

“I’m picking Chase Elliott this week, he’s great at Charlotte. He’s had quietly had good finishes throughout the year. Won at Texas. But I just think this is his style race, right? Game of attrition, not making mistakes, these guys, he doesn’t make mistakes on pit road. They’re just, they’re solid and I think this is his style of race. So, I’m going with the 9.”

As for his co-hosts on Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, they have other ideas.

“I’m going with a Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Martin Truex Jr. who we have seen be very strong at this race over the years,” Kaitlyn Vincie said. “He has 437 laps he’s led this year which is the most of the winless drivers so I think it’s time for him to switch columns to a winning driver on the year. MTJ.”

Mamba Smith felt like Toyota was the right answer, just the wrong team. He’s taking another driver.

“I’m going with Mr. Cool, Tyler Reddick in the 45. He’s been good here, really good here in the past,” Smith added. “He gets up around the top it’s kind of hard to beat him when that lane kind of gets up there. There’s only a few guys I feel like can do it. He does tend to jump that cushion that we talk about, get himself in trouble here more than anywhere else.”

Kevin Harvick knows Charlotte well. As I said earlier, Harvick also knows the drivers in the race. Chase Elliott has won the Coke 600 in the past. During that 2020 championship season he claimed the Crown Jewel race for himself.

In the last two years, things have not gone well for Elliott. Back-to-back DNF finishes of P33 and P34. You have to go back to the 2021 season to find the last time he finished this race. To Kevin Harvick’s credit, he finished P2 in that event.

Are you going with Chase Elliott or any of the other picks from Harvick’s podcast? Or are you going with another driver entirely for the Coca-Cola 600?
