A bad day for the eight-time Bristol winner gets worse. On final green flag stops at Bristol, Kyle Busch hit a pit crew member. The NASCAR champion was having a tough day and this did not help late in the Food City 500.

Kyle Busch spun around a couple of times, he found himself driving backward. Then on the green flag money stops, Busch almost ran over one of his crew members. The crew had an issue securing the front left wheel, and Busch took off too early.

Luckily, Rowdy got it slowed down in time and didn’t completely run over the crew member. More issues on pit road for the No. 8 team.

Things just couldn’t go right for Busch today. He has had struggles constantly on pit road. I’m not sure he’s had the same pit crew two weeks in a row this season. With all of those changes, it is clear something is still not working for this No. 8 crew.

At some point, musical chairs have to stop with this team and they have to pick the guys they trust and run with them. If not, then there will be issues all season long. This was also not the only bad pit stop for Busch today. When will things change for this group?

When the race turned into a tire strategy affair, one expected the veterans to move to the front. They did for the most part. Early on in the race, Kyle Busch was among the leaders. Then, mistake after mistake, he kept falling back.

Spinning out on the track, losing grip and even blowing a tire, Busch was not having an easy time with these tires on this track. So, he was unable to maintain track position and keep pace with the leaders.

Once he went a lap down, it was more or less over. Pit stops went poorly when he was near the front, they went poorly when he was in the middle of the pack or worse. Nothing worked today for the No. 8 team really anywhere on the track.

Today was another rough day for Kyle Busch. So, this Richard Childress Racing team needs to get it together. Changing the pit crew every week hasn’t worked, now you have to figure something else out. What could the solution be for this team?

Denny Hamlin went on to win the race while Busch finished P25 on the day.
