Former Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken has been a hot commodity leading up to the 2024 NFL Playoffs. The current offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens has garnered interest from multiple teams across the league and on Friday evening, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Monken interviewed for the head coach position with the LA Chargers.

Monken’s enjoyed a very successful return to the NFL this season, as he’s been the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. Star quarterback Lamar Jackson has had one of the best seasons of his career with Monken at offensive coordinator. Under his guidance, the Ravens averaged 156.5 yards per game, ranking sixth in the league in that category. Monken also had two players rush for over 800 yards in his first year as the team’s offensive coordinator (Lamar Jackson and Gus Edwards).

This season, Lamar Jackson has thrown for a career-high 3,678 yards in 16 games, in addition to over 800 rushing yards on the ground. His spectacular play has been a big reason why the Ravens currently own the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming 2024 NFL Playoffs.

Monken has an extensive amount of experience across the National Football League. He spent time in Cleveland for one season, where Nick Chubb rushed for the second-most rushing yards he ever has in a single season in his entire career (1,494 yards) in 2019.

In 2018, Monken worked with the Tampa Bay Bucs offensive attack, and they set records under his watch. The Buccaneers offense led the NFL in passing yards (320.3 yards per game) and finished third in total offense (415.5 yards), setting single-season records for the Tampa Bay franchise. Wide receiver Mike Evans had one of the most productive seasons of his career, hauling in 1,524 receiving yards.

During his time as the offensive coordinator for Georgia, Monken guided the Bulldogs offensive attack to pull off some remarkable things. He was part of the Bulldogs’ coaching staff that pulled off their impressive comeback against Alabama in the 2022 national championship game.

Monken’s critical offensive adjustments in the second half allowed the Bulldogs to outscore the Tide 20-9 in the fourth quarter, propelling them to the national crown with a 33-18 win. Georgia also went on to win their second straight national championship with Monken at the helm. He also was instrumental in quarterback Stetson Bennett’s success during those two seasons, with Bennett finishing as a Heisman Trophy finalist (fourth place) in 2022.
