As the 2022 iteration of the NFL Draft is taking shape, memories are conjured up of one of the event’s most infamous moments — the gas mask video incident featuring former Ole Miss star offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil.

It was a surreal moment, as Tunsil fell like a rock due to the video being released just hours prior to Roger Goodell taking the stage. Once projected to go No. 1 overall, Tunsil wasn’t selected until the Miami Dolphins took a shot on him at No. 13.

While it cost Tunsil the chance to be a top-10 pick, the former Ole Miss offensive lineman came out alright. Since, the Dolphins traded Tunsil to the Texans for an absolute haul of draft picks, and the offensive lineman was made the highest-paid offensive lineman of all time, in terms of annual value.

Now, Tunsil is looking to put the infamous moment in the past for good. Ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Texans offensive lineman revealed he’s minting a 1 of 1 NFT of the gas mask video. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the Last Prisoner Project, which fights for those incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses.

“For the past 6 years, I’ve been asked about this moment. The gas mask,” tweeted Tunsil. “I’ve spent 6 years trying to do rather than say – on the field and off the field. Fall 2021 I spoke with @Complex for the first time about this moment and today, the day before #draftday. “I’m officially moving on and putting this moment in the past.

“I’m minting a 1 of 1 NFT of the infamous gas mask video to be listed.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit @lastprisonerprj which supports those incarcerated for cannabis offenses.”

“I’m looking toward and excited for the future and am grateful for all of those that supported me on my draft night and those that have and will continue to support my journey!”

The video changed the course of the NFL career of Laremy Tunsil, but the former Ole Miss star has let his play on the field do the talking since. Now, he’s attempting to keep the past in the past, and do some good with it.

One offer has already been made for the NFT at the time of this writing. If you feel like owning a piece of NFL Draft history — and Tunsil’s football story — you can make an offer here.
