Darren Waller leaves game following second injury vs. Cowboys
This isn’t the news Las Vegas Raiders fans want to see.
After leaving the game with a back injury, tight end Darren Waller came back in and suffered another injury — this time, it was his knee. He’s questionable to return.
Waller has two catches for 33 yards for the Raiders, who lead the Dallas Cowboys 17-6 in the second quarter. He was a Pro Bowl nominee in 2020 and is an essential part of the Las Vegas offense.
Former NFL team doctor David Chao — @ProFootballDoc on Twitter — tweeted video and said Waller likely suffered an MCL sprain. But it looked like he avoided a high ankle sprain.
“[Waller got his] left leg rolled up on,” Chao tweeted. “By video, lucky to avoid high ankle but has mild MCL sprain.”
The Raiders took the lead early with a 56-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to DeSean Jackson. They scored again on a one-yard touchdown run from Josh Jacobs, and a Daniel Carlson field goal made it a 17-6 Las Vegas lead.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis appeared to force a fumble on a catch by Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller, and safety Keanu Neal made a brilliant play to knock it back in bounds and give the Cowboys the ball.
Or so we thought. The officials ruled it an incomplete catch, keeping possession with the Raiders.
It proved not to be a big no-call. The Raiders didn’t score on the drive, keeping it a 7-6 Las Vegas lead. Las Vegas scored right out of the gate on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to DeSean Jackson to take a 7-0 lead.
But Dallas answered right back when Dak Prescott found tight end Sean McKeon for a touchdown. But Greg Zuerlein missed the extra point to keep the Raiders in front 7-6.
Las Vegas eventually scored just before the end of the first quarter to extend its lead to 14-6. Josh Jacobs ran it in for a one-yard touchdown run.
