The Raiders may be shopping receiver Hunter Renfrow with the NFL trade deadline just days away. But Davante Adams, who may want to leave Vegas, seems stuck in Sin City.

The Athletic reported the news about Renfrow, the former Clemson star. At the same time, the Raiders also are trying to find a defensive end to replace Chandler Jones, who the team cut after his odd behavior ended in his arrest. The Athletic reported that owner Mark Davis said “we’re trying to win.” And that the Raiders were “looking to successfully compete, not tear down.”

That would also line up with ESPN’s report in regards to Adams, who has criticized the Raiders for the way he’s being used in the offense. ESPN indicated that Vegas has informed teams around the NFL that Adams is off limits, even if the All-Pro receivers is pushing for a new employer. Coach Josh McDaniels doesn’t want to let go of a receiver so important his offense. So far, Adams has 39 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns.

Raiders drafted Renfrow in fifth round of 2019 draft

So maybe that means Renfrow goes. The Raiders drafted him in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Although Renfrow lacked the classic size and speed of an NFL receiver, the Raiders were impressed with the former walk-on who helped Clemson win two national titles.

However, it’s unclear how many takers there could be for Renfrow. He’s caught only six passes for 59 yards this season. He’s had two games, against the Patriots and Broncos, in which he didn’t catch a pass. Renfrow’s best year, by far, was 2021, when Renfrow caught 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns.

There are other notable receivers who could swap teams before Oct. 31, the trading deadline. There already is some activity. Chase Claypool, the former Bear, now is with the Dolphins. The Chiefs picked up Mecole Hardman from the Jets. And the Falcons secured Van Jefferson from the Rams.

Meanwhile, the Broncos could deal either Jerry Jeudy or Courtland Sutton. The Bengals’ Tee Higgins also may be in the trade market.

The Raiders are 3-3 this season. They play one-win Chicago on the road, but they’ll be doing so without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who has been ruled out with a back injury. Of course, the Bears also will be without starting quarterback Justin Fields, who dislocated his thumb.
