Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs arrested after win over Colts
Blows keep coming off the field for the Las Vegas Raiders, with another drinking and driving arrest. First, it was star wide receiver Henry Ruggs. Now, it’s Nate Hobbs.
A rookie cornerback out of Illinois, Hobbs was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of DUI on Monday morning, just hours after the Raiders defeated the Indianapolis Colts in a crucial AFC matchup. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a statement on the incident.
“At approximately 4:09 a.m., LVMPD Dispatch received a call reference a driver asleep inside of a vehicle, which was parked on the exit ramp of a parking garage located in the 3500 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard. Arriving officers made contact with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Nathan Hobbs. He was given FST’s (field sobriety test) by patrol and failed. He was transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he was booked for DUI (misdemeanor).”
Hobbs has played in all 15 games for Las Vegas this season and even started in nine, despite being a rookie. He has recorded 58 tackles, two passes defended, and an interception against the Washington Football Team.
Las Vegas said they are “aware” of the incident and have no further comment on the situation.
Latest on Las Vegas Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III’s case
A judge ruled on Nov. 22 that former Las Vegas receiver Henry Ruggs III will be allowed to remain on house arrest, per ESPN. The ruling came after there was a delay on Ruggs’ part in providing a remote breath alcohol test via a hand-held device on Nov. 13.
Justice of the Peace Suzan Baucum was forgiving for the slip up, saying she would be “comfortable with a higher level of monitoring.” That will take place with a continuous alcohol monitor attached to one ankle and a GPS monitor attached to the other. This will ensure Henry Ruggs is adhering to the rules of his house arrest.
“If there are any misses, if there are any problems, if there is any alcohol detected in your system, you need to know that’s going to be problematic for this court going forward,” Baucum said.
Ruggs was involved in a DUI crash earlier this month that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Tina Tintor, along with her dog, Max. The former receiver is accused of driving 156 miles per hour through a suburban area, miles away from the Las Vegas strip. His speedometer read 127 mph when airbags deployed. In addition, Ruggs’ blood alcohol level read .161, more than twice the legal limit. Police found a loaded gun inside the car.
