Mac Jones is giving New England hope that the Patriots found their next Tom Brady. The former Alabama star reminds the NFL world of Brady in multiple ways — his innate desire for victory, the cerebral ability to navigate the field, and the carefulness in which he threads the needle.

Jones has been eerily similar to Brady on the field. Now, he’s following in his footsteps off the field as well — filing a trademark for his “MJ10” nickname.

If that sounds similar to Brady’s nickname, it’s because it is. Brady’s “TB12” nickname has spawned a clothing line, books and fitness routines. Now, Jones is hoping to profit off of his very similar moniker.

According to Darren Rovell, Jones’ Mac 10 Enterprises officially filed the trademark on November 26th. Moreover, the Patriots quarterback intends to use it to sell various clothing items and more.

Tom Brady built the Patriots into a dynasty — and he made an entire brand around his name and number. As Mac Jones intends to do the same, it’s hard not to see the eery similarities between the two quarterbacks.

Mac Jones in 2021

Mac Jones is in the midst of one of the most impressive rookie campaigns in recent memory. Currently, the Patriots are positioned in a battle for the No. 1 seed in the AFC — 8-4 overall and only behind the Baltimore Ravens.

The former Alabama star has been a huge part of the Patriots’ turnaround. On the season, Jones has passed for 2,850 yards and 16 touchdowns. He’s shown he’s wise beyond his years — limiting his mistakes and allowing the Patriots running-game and defense control the pace.

Furthermore, Jones’ play is making one of the top quarterbacks of all time fall for him. Earlier, Brett Favre told ESPN’s Mike Reiss about his infatuation with Jones.

“It’s premature to crown anyone, a team or player at this point in the season. But, I mean obviously coach (Bill) Belichick and Josh McDaniels and the organization chose Mac Jones for a reason,” Favre said via ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “The way he plays, being ready instantly and not making many mistakes. Really, sort of a young carbon copy of Tom Brady. And it’s obviously way premature to say he is the next Tom Brady, but he plays a lot like him.”

Mac Jones may have gotten off to a slow-start in 2021, but his Patriots are now in the middle of a six-game winning streak. With two games against the Buffalo Bills on the horizon, New England can runaway with the division if they can find victory.

The Patriots may have found their next Tom Brady in Mac Jones. Evidently, Jones is learning from Brady on and off the field — time will tell if MJ10 can catch TB12.
