Baltimore Ravens fans held their collective breath Thursday night when Mark Andrews limped off the field against the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury. He headed to the locker room and was initially deemed questionable to return.

Andrews was tackled by Logan Wilson on the first drive of the game as he hauled in a 9-yard reception from Lamar Jackson. He got up and limped off the field, and although he tested the injury afterward, he ended up heading to the locker room, Amazon Prime’s Kaylee Hartung reported.

As the Ravens offense returned to the field, Andrews was seen on crutches as he headed to the x-ray room and was later ruled out.

“Mark Andrews is in the X-Ray room,” Hartung said. “We saw him walk in on crutches, not able to put any weight on his left leg and he was accompanied by the team’s orthopedic surgeon. Al, we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.”

Andrews is one of the most important pieces for the Ravens this year, entering Thursday’s game second on the team with 521 receiving yards along with a team-high six touchdowns. Hartung said the emotions showed as Andrews left the field.

“You talked about what he means to this offense, Lamar Jackson threw his helmet to the ground when Mark went down and Odell Beckham was the last one to talk to him before he left the field,” Hartung said during her initial update.

The Ravens are off to a solid start to the season this year, bringing a 7-3 record into Thursday night’s game against the rival Bengals. Jackson is in the midst of an impressive season, as well, with 2,177 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 481 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground in Todd Monken’s new offense.

However, it hasn’t been perfect, and Jackson was candid about some missed opportunities in the lead-up to Thursday’s game.

“I mean it’s right there. I’m pissed off about it to be honest with you,” Jackson said, via BaltimoreRavens.com’s Ryan Mink and Clifton Brown. “I watched the game, and it’s like it might be a difference in the game if we connect with that one. Can’t dwell on it. Hopefully this Thursday we catch them when we want them, we have success with the deep ball, we connect and have chemistry there.

“I believe it’s there, in practice we do it all the time. Those guys catch the ball down the field 40 yards, 50 yards down the field. We need to transition that over to the games, that’s all.”
