As the Xfinity 500 draws near, Martinsville Speedway has announced a sell-out crowd in the grandstand for the NASCAR Cup Series race. Another wonderful crowd for a Round of 8 elimination race. Things are going to be electric at the Paperclip.

The Xfinity 500 is going to decide our Championship 4. Last night the Dead On Tools 250 put on a wild show. Maybe that convinced those last few fans to make it out to the track for Sunday’s action.

No matter what, you love to see a sold-out crowd on Sunday. There is football going on, NBA is back, there are a lot of things for sports fans to be doing on the weekend. These great NASCAR fans in Virginia turned out for the elimination race.

Just to give you an idea of how many fans are at the Xfinity 500, Jeff Gluck of The Athletic got a video of the auxiliary parking. This is just in the grass in the extra lots, not even the main parking lot!

There are over 60,000 seats at Martinsville Speedway just to give you an idea. That’s just the grandstands. If you add the campers that number just goes up and up. This is an awesome crowd and hopefully, that means we are going to get an awesome Xfinity 500.

Martin Truex Jr. starts on pole for Xfinity 500

On Saturday, Martin Truex Jr. was the fastest in qualifying. He made his way to the front of the field for the second week in a row. It also helps that he’s going to ave that pit stall selection up front. He should be fast off the pits all day long.

The Xfinity 500 last year gave us the Hail Melon and a walk-off win. So, are we going to get the same level of drama today? That’s hard to beat, but I’m sure these drivers will try. After last night’s Xfinity Series race, I’m excited to see what awaits.

Truex Jr. and teammate Denny Hamlin are 17 points in the negative as far as the cutline is concerned. Tyler Reddick is 10 points under the cutline with Ryan Blaney 10 points to the good. William Byron is +30 on the cutline. These drivers will all fight for two spots, and don’t forget Chris Buescher. He has to win from 46 points down and could be the Cinderella in this story.

It’s all come down to this, folks. NASCAR Playoffs at Martinsville for a chance at a Championship 4. We know what drivers are willing to do to get it, and we are about to see that put to the test.
