Report: Marty Smith, Adam Alexander among names NASCAR considering for broadcast booth in 2025

As NASCAR moves forward with some fascinating new broadcast partners in 2025, some interesting names are being considered for high-profile positions.
Next season, Prime Video and TNT Sports will be joining FOX and NBC as NASCAR’s main broadcasting partners. Throughout the summer months, Prime Video and TNT Sports will be the home of the Cup Series, while the CW will be broadcasting the Xfinity Series for the entire season.
It’s a sizable change, after FOX and NBC have been the exclusive homes of NASCAR over the last couple of seasons. According to Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal, NASCAR’s new partners are trying to court some talented yet unexpected names to their cause.
“NASCAR’s new media rights partners are casting a wide net to find the talent who will be in their booths next year,” Stern posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, “with some expected names like Fox Sports’ @Adam1Alexander and unexpected names like @MartySmithESPN among those in the mix, sources say.”
While Alexander has been with FOX for a myriad of seasons, Smith has covered NASCAR for ESPN in the past, although ESPN’s coverage of the sport has dwindled, as they exited the broadcasting game for NASCAR.
Additionally, Stern noted that FOX’s Jamie McMurray is also a name to watch, as Prime Video and TNT Sports look to fill out their team. He’s been impressive with FOX ever since he retired from full-time racing, and the former Daytona 500 champion could bring a unique perspective.
Moreover, Prime Video and TNT Sports already reeled in the biggest fish they could find, as Dale Earnhardt Jr. is joining both broadcasts in 2025.

“The biggest name in NASCAR is on the move,” Andrew Marchand of The Athletic wrote earlier this season. “Dale Earnhardt Jr. is leaving NBC and heading to racing newcomers Amazon Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, sources briefed on his decision told The Athletic.”
“Earnhardt is expected to take this season off and then resume his broadcasting career in 2025 when WBD Sports and Amazon begin their coverage.”
Moving forward, it’s evident Prime Video and TNT Sports are looking to do something different with their NASCAR coverage than FOX and NBC have provided fans over the last couple of seasons.
It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out over the next couple of months, and who they land to contribute to their broadcasts in 2025, and potentially beyond.
