Miami CB Tyrique Stevenson has met with Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers ahead of NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft is less than two weeks away and the anticipation only continues to build for one of the biggest events on the sports calendar. Leading up to the draft, plenty of prospects have been busy flying across the country to visit with various teams, including Miami defensive back Tyrique Stevenson. He has had no shortage of suitors leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he recently visited the Dallas Cowboys, and he also visited the Green Bay Packers. The former Hurricanes’ standout also has a Top 30 visit with the Jacksonville Jaguars slated for Sunday. He’s also visited numerous other teams throughout the pre-draft process.

Per Pro Football Focus, Stevenson had a 79.5 coverage grade last year. He only allowed 42% of the passes thrown his direction to be completed and he also forced eight incompletions. Max Chadwick of PFF recently noted, “He excels in zone coverage as one of the smartest quarterbacks in this class.”

Tyrique Stevenson has been a versatile player

One interesting point to note about Stevenson is that he has experience on punt returns. He’s returned 12 punts during his college football career. Before his final two seasons of college football with the Hurricanes, Stevens played for the Georgia Bulldogs. In 2021, he racked up 43 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and four pass breakups with the Hurricanes, earning him honorable mention All-ACC honors. This year with Miami, he earned third team All-ACC honors after he racked up 25 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions, and seven pass breakups.

More on the 2023 NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft is set to take place from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The event will be held at the plaza just outside of Union Station.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft is set to begin at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Apr. 27. Rounds 2-3 will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Apr. 28, and Rounds 4-7 will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Apr. 29. The draft will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on both ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility. 100 underclassmen were approved for last year’s draft. 73 of those 100 underclassmen were granted special eligibility while 27 of them were underclassmen who had completed their college degrees.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine took place from Feb. 28 through March 6 in Indianapolis.
