Micah Parsons has continued his monstrous rookie season for the Dallas Cowboys. On Sunday against the Washington Football Team, Parsons sacked Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke. Heinicke fumbles the ball, resulting in a touchdown for the Cowboys.

Parsons got right through the Washington offensive line, quickly getting to Heinicke. Upon reaching Heinicke, Parsons delivered a crushing hit, forcing him to lose the ball. The ball then bounced away, and Dorance Armstrong recovered, returning it for a touchdown. The score gave Dallas an 18-0 lead.

Entering Sunday’s game, Parsons has totaled 72 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 25 quarterback hits, two passes defended, and two forced fumbles while playing multiple positions on the Cowboys defense. He is a frontrunner for the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award, and he has a case to win Defensive Player of the Year as well.

On the next offensive possession for Washington, Parsons got into the backfield yet again for his second sack of the day. That sack forced fourth down for Washington, giving Dallas the ball yet again.

Parsons is showing no signs of slowing down for the Cowboys

The Cowboys have dealt with a plethora of injuries on the defensive side of the ball this season. Dallas hasn’t been fully healthy on the defensive line most of the season, forcing Parsons to play more up front that he traditionally would as a linebacker. But Parsons thrived in that role. And now that the team is healthy, Parsons is able to play freely at multiple positions throughout games.

While Parsons has had a great year for the Cowboys, he isn’t ready for it to end, and he wants to achieve a lot more than just individual accolades. He wants the Cowboys to win a Super Bowl.

“The Super Bowl, playoffs, you got five games left,” Parsons said. “There’s stuff to be done … I don’t think it’s time for me to sit on my couch, smiling, eating Cheetos. I’m trying to do something way bigger than anybody thought we could do this year.”
