Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons debuted his show “The Edge” on Bleacher Report on Monday, sharing his hot takes from Week 1 action across the league.

The outspoken defender is apparently getting a jump on his post-playing media career, which is a natural fit for Parsons who boasts half a million followers on X (formerly Twitter).

Among the topics discussed on his Week 1 show was Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Parsons got better acquainted with Jones all night on Sunday and walked away from his team’s seven-sack, two-interception assault on the QB with a sympathetic take.

“Daniel Jones is not a bad quarterback,” Parsons said. “I know, I know, I know. Some of you may think that he’s a bad quarterback and why re-sign him? You have to remember, Daniel Jones just went against top-3 defensive teams in the league.

“They’re still learning to gel together. He’s still learning to be the guy. It’s only his second year with (head coach) Brian Daboll, so he gets grace. I think nowadays we don’t give the same grace as we do with guys like Peyton Manning when they came into the league.”

The Cowboys defense had a field day against Jones but Parsons knows the two teams will meet again in a couple of months and things may not be so lopsided then.

In most categories, Jones had the best season of his career in 2022. He had his highest-ever completion percentage of 67.2%, set a new passing yards high with 3,205, and brought his interceptions down to a career-low of just five over 16 games.

Adding to that, Jones also rushed for 708 yards and seven touchdowns. The Giants opted to nearly double his scrambling attempts from his previous high of 65 to 120.

All that productivity and Jones still takes among the most sacks of any quarterback in the league. He took 44 sacks last year, bringing his total since his rookie season up to 149.

This summer, the Giants came up with a four-year, $160 million extension for Jones with $82 million in guarantees and another $35 million available in incentives. In order to maximize the QB’s potential, the Giants’ next big investment should probably go toward protecting Jones.

The Giants and their star quarterback will attempt to put the 40-0 loss at the hands of the Cowboys behind them this weekend against the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona also lost in Week 1 action. New York has a 64.7% win chance, according to the ESPN analytics.
