The Dallas Cowboys will have one of their star receivers make his debut for the 2022 season on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. Michael Gallup will make his first appearance on the field since suffering a torn ACL injury against the Arizona Cardinals on Jan. 2. His return is obviously welcomed, but it may take a bit before he gets back in the flow of things. Gallup has had two weeks of full participation in practice under his belt, so the Cowboys are hoping their cautious approach with him will help to prevent any sort of major setbacks. He’ll be suiting up with backup Cooper Rush at quarterback, with CeeDee Lamb manning the other wide receiver spot.

Dallas Cowboys Friday injury report vs Washington Commanders

Did not practiceDak Prescott QB (right thumb)

Prescott has officially been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup with the Washington Commanders as he works his way back from his right thumb injury he suffered against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a few weeks ago. He did not practice the past three days, so we’ll have to wait and see how his recovery process looks in the coming weeks.

Limited participantsJayron Kearse S (knee), Connor McGovern G (ankle), Dalton Schultz TE (knee)

Cowboys’ safety Jayron Kearse has been limited in practice all week long. He’s been dealing with knee injury. His status is listed as questionable for the game. Both offensive guard Connor McGovern and tight end Dalton Schultz have also been limited all week long in practice. Both players are listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup. If they could play, it’d be a big boost for the Cowboys offensive attack.

Full participants — WR Michael Gallup (knee), DE DeMarcus Lawrence (foot), LB Luke Gifford (hamstring), WR Simi Fehoko (shoulder)

The good news is gifted defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence was a full practice participant on Friday, after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He’s expected to play on Sunday after leaving the New York Giants game last Sunday with foot soreness. Lawrence racked up three sacks against the Giants before leaving with the injury, displaying his dominant ability as a pass rusher.

The Cowboys lead the league in sacks for a reason–they’ve got a dynamic duo of pass rushers in Lawrence and Micah Parsons. Lawrence appears to be returning to his 2017 Pro Bowl form. If he can keep that up for the rest of the season, the Cowboys front seven will continue to be a nightmare for opposing offensive lines to block.
