Michigan and Penn State are set to tip off in the first round of the Big Ten Basketball Tournament and the odds are in.

It’s been a rough season for Michigan, losing eight in a row to close out the year. Meanwhile, Penn State believes it could pull off an upset or two along the way.

Let’s dive into what the oddsmakers say about Michigan and Penn State going into the tournament.

Odds for Michigan vs. Penn State

Penn State is a 6.5 point favorite over Michigan, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. If you want to bet the moneyline, Penn State is -275 while the Wolverines are +220 as the underdog.

The game is expected to be relatively high scoring with a total of 150.5, so place those bets on the over or the under!

BPI Predicted winner: Penn State
BPI Predicted point differential: 4.2
BPI Win probability (for Washington): 65.3%
BPI Matchup Quality: 71.4

ESPN’s BPI is a model designed to provide a statistical comparison between two teams and predict future success. Penn State is the predicted winner by ESPN, so it aligns with Vegas. The line isn’t as big though.

The matchup quality of Michigan and Penn State is a little over 71, which is a middle tier game on the Wednesday slate.

KenPom Predicted final score: Penn State wins 80-76
KenPom Win probability (for Notre Dame): 66%

KenPom is another predictive system for college basketball. It’s designed to show how strong a team is at a given time, without taking factors like injuries into account. This metric has Penn State winning as well, but not by as much as the Vegas spread.

However, the win possibility percentage is a tad higher than ESPN.
