With their franchise quarterback sidelined for the next couple of months, the Dallas Cowboys had the tall task of hosting the reigning AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals at AT&T Stadium – and gave their fans their money’s worth.

With the loyal Dallas fanbase behind him, head coach Mike McCarthy’s squad came away with a walk-off field goal for the victory as time expired. McCarthy spoke to the fan engagement and noise they made all afternoon long en route to victory.

“When you go out in pregame and see the white towels on the seat, I’ll tell you it brings a smile to my face. They were on it,” McCarthy said after the win. “There’s nothing like these Cowboy fans. Just from the time you arrive, all the way through. An incredible atmosphere today.”

In his first start of the season, quarterback Cooper Rush completed 19 of his 31 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown, while running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard combined for 96 of Dallas’ 107 rushing yards.

While those aren’t eye-popping numbers from the Cowboys offense, it was still enough to send fans home happy and secure the victory. A 50-yarder from place kicker Brett Maher split the uprights and gave Dallas their first victory of the 2022 season – without Dak Prescott.

While Cincinnati – and quarterback Joe Burrow in particular – are having a slow start to the year, the fans inside one of the most iconic stadiums in football certainly played their role along the way.

McCarthy and his Cowboys squad won’t have their fans to comfort them during Week 3, however, as they travel to New York for a date with the Giants on Monday Night Football for their first road trip of the regular season.
