Mike McCarthy is elated about the remainder of the Cowboys season. Following a dominating victory over the New York Giants, Dallas sits high atop the NFC East. Additionally, the Cowboys are just one game behind the Green Bay Packers for the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

As Dallas enters the stretch run, McCarthy has another reason to be elated — the health of his team. Nobody is completely healthy in December of an NFL season, but the biggest stars in Dallas are in good shape. Now, reinforcements are on the way.

According to McCarthy, the Cowboys could be getting one of their best players back on the field.

“Mike McCarthy said Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (ankle) is doing “much better” than he was last week,” tweeted Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He’ll be working with the rehab group today.”

The return of Smith is music to the ears of Dallas. Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard can’t wait to get their hulking left tackle back on the field.

Moreover, Smith isn’t the only player on the mend for the Cowboys.

“Cowboys are hopeful that TE Blake Jarwin (hip) will be able to return to practice within the next two weeks,” tweeted Machota.

In the past, Blake Jarwin has provided the Cowboys with a formidable tight end post-Jason Witten. In addition to Dalton Schultz, the two tight ends make a great duo.

Continuing, Machota also revealed that Dallas has had better luck with the Reserve/COVID-19 list this week, as well.

“No Cowboys players have been added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list. DT Osa Odighizuwa, who was on the list, is back in the building today,” added Machota.

The Cowboys are on the rise, and so is their health — that spells trouble for the entire NFL.

McCarthy to the Cowboys: ‘From here on in, we’re just gonna be climbing that ladder to that No. 1 seed.’

Furthermore, the morale is high in Dallas at the moment. Following a third straight victory, Mike McCarthy laid out a challenge for his Cowboys.

“We got the momentum, so let’s keep it going. Let’s stay on point,” McCarthy stated, via Machota of The Athletic. “From here on in, we’re just gonna be climbing that ladder to that No. 1 seed. That’s the way you gotta look at it.”

While it may have sounded outlandish a couple weeks ago, Dallas is right there in the race for the top seed in the NFC. The Green Bay Packers currently lead the way at 11-3, but the Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams are all tied one game behind.

The one seed certainly isn’t out of the question for the Cowboys. However, it won’t be easy — McCarthy and company have three tough games to end their season.

First, the Washington Football Team will be out for revenge against Dallas on Sunday Night Football this weekend. Then, the highly-powered Arizona Cardinals offense comes to town. Finally, Dallas goes back on the road to end their season — an NFC East rivalry showdown with the Eagles ending their season in Philadelphia.

Time will tell if Mike McCarthy can grab the one seed for the Dallas Cowboys. If we’ve learned anything this season, it’s don’t count out his team.
