Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered an Achilles injury, head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed to reporters after the Week 8 matchup on Sunday. Cousins was ruled out and carted off the field during the fourth quarter against the Green Bay Packers. The team initially labeled the injury as an “ankle,” however, footage of the injury appeared to show a “snap” of the Achilles.

“Cousins will undergo an MRI, but the diagnosis on Achilles is rarely wrong. It appears his season is over,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported.

The 35-year-old was leading the Vikings to victory against the Packers before exiting the game in the fourth quarter with Minnesota up 24-10. Cousins went 23-for-31 for 274 yards and touchdown passes before his replacement, Jaren Hall, subbed in.

Hall was a fifth-round draft pick for Minnesota in the 2023 NFL Draft out of BYU. The Week 8 matchup is his first appearance for the Vikings. Hall closed out the game to bring Minnesota to 4-4 on the year.

Prior to the Week 8 game, Kirk Cousins had 2,057 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions with a 68.9% completion rate.

Cousins won over many non-Vikings fans this offseason by participating in Netflix’s Quarterback, the docuseries that also followed Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota during the 2022 season.

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles two months ago and received surgery to repair it. Several weeks later and he’s now able to move around without crutches and toss passes on the field during warmups with his teammates.

Rodgers showed off some very noticeable improvement on Sunday as he tossed footballs on the field during his team’s pre-game warmup. The Jets are taking on the New York Giants without Rodgers, but by the look of him, the veteran will be back from his Achilles injury in record time.

The almost-40-year-old threw around a ball two weeks ago but the mobility he had in Week 8 was significantly better. Rodgers jauntily went through some footwork while tossing the football with his teammates.

On the ManningCast last week, Rodgers told the Manning brothers that his goal is definitely still to return at some point this season.

“I’ve had a couple injuries over the years, and I think for me — you always have to set a goal,” Rodgers said. “Otherwise you go kind of crazy. And so the goal is to definitely come back. There’s a lot of factors that go into that. I gotta get to a point where I can protect myself and then do what I do.
