Minnesota Vikings rookie defensive back Lewis Cine is out of surgery and on his road to recovery following the injury he suffered on Sunday. With all that is behind him, Cine has taken the time to thank everyone who reached out to him during this difficult time.

The former Georgia Bulldog had to stay behind in London following the Vikings’ 25-22 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Cine suffered a compound fracture in the first quarter and had to be taken to a local medical facility for treatment. In the days that followed, it was reported he would need surgery while in London on the broken leg. Now that that is all said and done, Cine looks forward to returning home to begin his rehab process.

“Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes over the last two days,” wrote Cine in the message posted to his Twitter account. “I’m sorry I have not been able to respond to everyone that has reached out, but please know your support has been truly felt. I am incredibly grateful for the care I have received from the doctors and staff at Cleveland Clinic London. with today’s surgery behind me, I’m looking forward to returning to Minnesota, supporting my teammates and attacking this rehab so I can get back to doing what I love to do. Skol Vikings!”

Kirby Smart reveals how difficult it was to see Lewis Cine go down with major injury on Sunday

It was a tough scene in London on Sunday when Minnesota Vikings safety Lewis Cine went down with a major injury and had to be carted off the field. But it especially hit Georgia coach Kirby Smart hard considering the bond the two developed during their time in Athens.

Cine played at Georgia from 2019-21 before becoming one of five players from the Bulldogs’ vaunted defense selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was a key part of the national championship team a year ago, leading Georgia with 73 total tackles and a team-high nine passes defended.

That’s why it was so tough for Smart to see Cine leave the game with an apparent compound fracture. He reached out to Cine, but hadn’t heard back by the time he met reporters on Monday.
