Myles Garrett is fortunately okay following a car accident he was in on Monday. As of now, his status remains uncertain for Cleveland’s game against Atlanta this weekend. Based on the update on his crash, it’s more than fair that the Browns may play it safe with their star defender.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and NFL.com provided an update from the reporting officer on the scene of the accident. He said he noticed a laceration while Garrett indicated that he had pain in several spots on his body.

“I observed a laceration on Mr. Garrett’s right wrist/hand and asked him what injuries he sustained. Garrett stated he had pain in his right wrist/hand, right bicep, left shoulder & the left side of his face,” said the officer.

Rapoport’s update includes the fact that Garrett was issued a citation amidst the incident as his speed apparently contributed to the accident. After swerving off of the road, an observer contributed to the report by saying Garrett’s car flipped at least three times.

Garrett was lucky to be able to have left the hospital on the same day as the accident. It’s even better to know that he is already back at the Brown’s practice facility today according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Still, Cleveland may hold him out this week and rest him against the Falcons on Sunday to ensure their star DE is all good.

Myles Garrett avoids serious injuries after car accident

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has avoided serious injuries after being involved in a car accident Monday, the team announced Tuesday. Garrett was released from the hospital late Monday and suffered a shoulder strain, bicep strain and a few cuts and bruises.

His status for Sunday’s game against Atlanta is still up in the air.

“First — and most importantly — we are thankful that Myles, his passenger and no other parties were seriously injured in the single-car accident yesterday,” the Browns said in a statement. “After medical evaluation today, our team doctors at University Hospital have concluded that Myles has sustained a shoulder strain, biceps strain, minor lacerations as well as some bumps and bruises to various other body parts.

“Myles didn’t suffer any fractures and has also cleared concussion protocol. Currently, our focus is on providing Myles the medical care needed for him to return to football activity. Although we hope to have him back soon, his availability for Sunday’s game will be evaluated by team doctors throughout the week.”

So far this season, Garrett has recorded seven tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble through three games. The Browns are currently 2-1 and will kick off against Atlanta at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
