NASCAR has decided to call it, putting an end to their current attempt to get the Alsco Uniforms 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in. Instead, the race will resume after the Coca-Cola 600 comes to an end on Monday afternoon.

“The Xfinity race will resume after the Cup race tonight,” tweeted FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass It will be on FS2.

The race was originally supposed to be a part of NASCAR’s traditional Memorial Day Weekend at Charlotte, but Mother Nature has decided to make herself the main attraction. NASCAR pushed the start time back to Monday at 11:00 a.m. and actually got some laps in, but some serious rainfall caused the red flag to come out.

NASCAR tried to push through, but many drivers, and even JR Motorsports patriarch Dale Earnhardt Jr., questioned what was taking so long for the stoppage.

“This seems excessive,” Earnhardt Jr. tweeted, accompanying a rain cloud emoji.

Additionally, drivers Brett Moffit and Rajah Caruth told their teams the rain was worse than the broadcast would lead on, with Caruth telling his team, “It’s straight up raining. Like we’re not loose. I’m driving on water.”

After the first delay, NASCAR attempted to bring the field back to green, but it was short-lived, as the red flag had to come back out for rain once again.

Time will tell if the rain ever allows the NASCAR Xfinity Series to get the Alsco Uniforms 300 in, but one has to bear in mind that the Cup Series and the Coca-Cola 600 will have first dibs, and that’s slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. ET.

More on NASCAR Coca-Cola 600, Starting Grid

Moreover, as a result of the canceled practice and qualifying runs, the starting lineup for Monday’s Coca-Cola 600 was automatically set according to the rule book instead of performance in qualifiers. Charlotte Motor Speedway will see William Byron in the No. 24 car start from the pole position.

“Byron won the Cup Series’ most recent points race at Darlington Raceway and leads the series with three victories in 2023,” explained NASCAR’s official release. “The performance metric based on Darlington sets the starting lineup for the longest race of the schedule, factoring 15% of fastest lap time position, 25% of the driver’s final race finish position, 25% of the owner’s final race finish position and 35% of the owner points position.”
