Just when we thought we would see the FireKeepers Casino 400 run without issue, the rain had to return to the NASCAR track. Michigan is being stubborn. The rain comes and then goes. NASCAR pushed the race time up and got the track dry, but about 72 laps into the race, things came to a halt again.

The rain just won’t stop in Brooklyn, Michigan. NASCAR had the track dried off and now they have lost it due to weather. That means more drying will have to take place before this race gets going again. And that won’t happen until tomorrow.

With too much rain in the area and no lights at the track, NASCAR is moving this race to Monday. Another weather-delayed weekend on the season. The race will resume on Monday at Noon.

The decision to postpone the race came down to continuing rain and the fact there are no lights at Michigan. With those facts in front of them, it was an easy decision to put this race off until Monday.

This will be yet another Monday race and one where Martin Truex Jr. looks like the best car on the track. Perhaps Martin Mondays is coming back for one last ride before the NASCAR Playoffs?

Can Martin Truex Jr. win FireKeepers Casino 400?

With all of the cautions that flew in the first two stages, the field has been swapped, flipped, and jumbled up already. Just 74 laps in, the race was put to a stop due to the weather. Drivers were pushed and pulled around a ton on Sunday. From delays to starting, to not actually starting, and then racing to stopping once more.

Through the FireKeepers Casino 400, Martin Truex Jr. has been fast. The Toyota group in the Joe Gibbs Racing and 23XI Racing teams has been great so far and Truex might be the best. In the first stage, Truex came across the line first with Bubba Wallace and Ty Gibbs in tow behind him. Denny Hamlin made it three in the top-10 to end that stage.

When the race ended, Tyler Reddick was out front and Alex Bowman was right behind him in second. Truex Jr. moved up from the middle of the pack to fourth-place and Wallace and Denny Hamlin were P9 and P10.

This could be another Martin Monday. Truex Jr. has been fast and Michigan has treated him well so far this weekend. We’ll see if he grabs another checkered flag this week.
