The NASCAR Cup Series is entering their fourth weekend of the season, and the schedule takes the circuit to Phoenix Raceway on Sunday.

It’s the first of two dates in the desert, as Phoenix of course has been the host to the NASCAR Cup Series title race, and it will decide the champion once again in 2024. Last season, Ross Chastain won the final race of the campaign, but it was Ryan Blaney who took home the championship, finishing in the top spot among Championship 4 contenders.

The spring race doesn’t carry the same weight as the autumn date will, but it’ll go a long way towards figuring out who’s there when the chips are in the middle of the table. The reigning champion of this specific date is William Byron, and he’s among the favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Check out the full odds below.

Kyle Larson (+550)

Kyle Larson officially clinched his spot in the Cup Series playoffs at Las Vegas. He was in command of the race for almost the entire afternoon, and in the end he captured the checkered flag, celebrating with his family on the track.

The Hendrick star will now turn his attention to Phoenix, where he was able to win the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series title with a victory at the track. He seems to be the driver to beat this season, and that’s reflected in FanDuel’s odds.

William Byron (+700)

William Byron battled all day long to secure a top ten finish in Las Vegas. It wasn’t an easy day for the Hendrick Motorsports star, but he proved that even in tough conditions, he can get the job done.

The last time Byron was at Phoenix, he was hoping to capture his first NASCAR Cup Series title, and he looked to have the car to beat. Alas, it went away as the race went on, so Byron will be hoping to learn some lessons for a potential Championship 4 appearance in November.

Ryan Blaney (+700)

The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion is off to a fantastic start on the season. While his luck ran out in Daytona, he came within seconds of winning in Atlanta, and came home P3 in Las Vegas.

Now, he’ll look to clinch his spot in the playoffs back at Phoenix, where he celebrated in the desert last season. The Team Penske wheelman has entered the upper echelon of drivers, and he’s looking to stay there in search of back-to-back titles.

Denny Hamlin (+800)

Denny Hamlin was far from satisfied with his P8 performance on Sunday. The Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman believed he had a car that should’ve finished at least in the top three, but he’ll take the top ten after a rough start to the season.

In the past, Hamlin’s won at Phoenix twice, so he’ll be hoping to clinch his spot in the playoffs this weekend. Regardless, he’s expected to be a part of the dance, and have a shot at his first title in the Cup Series.

Ross Chastain (+800)

While last season’s finale is remembered for crowning the aforementioned Blaney as the Cup Series champion, Ross Chastain was actually the race winner on that fateful afternoon. He got under Blaney’s skin with his driving, and was able to fend off all competitors to end his season on a high note.

What better way to recapture the magic Chastain felt in 2022 would there be then clinching his spot in the playoffs at Phoenix, a track where he’s had so much success. It’s easy to see why he’s one of the top contenders entering this weekend’s date.

Kyle Busch (+1000)

Kyle Busch is a threat to win each time NASCAR visits a new track every week. The two-time Cup Series champion has had his share of success at Phoenix, and will be looking to add to his long list of wins this weekend, and capture his first trophy of 2024.

Last season, Busch came home P8 in the spring race for Phoenix, which is better than he fared during the fall date, when Busch dealt with troubles on his way to a P25 finish. The Richard Childress Racing wheelman will be hoping for a performance similar to last March, and not last November.

Christopher Bell (+1200)

Christopher Bell had some rough luck in Las Vegas after a blistering start to the 2024 campaign. The Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman came home with a P33 finish, which he was far from satisfied with.

Phoenix hasn’t been good to Bell, especially during his trips to the Championship 4 over the last two seasons. However, there’s some solid tracks for him coming up in the schedule, as he looks to prove he belongs among the best in the sport.

Joey Logano (+1200)

The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion has been incredible in qualifying, but luck hasn’t been on his side come race day. Joey Logano at least was able to secure a top ten in Las Vegas though, after wrecking in Daytona and Atlanta.

Phoenix is where Logano was able to win the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series title. The Team Penske wheelman has been fantastic at the track, and will look for a more complete weekend during the fourth week of the season.

Martin Truex Jr. (+1200)

Martin Truex Jr. has had a relatively quiet start to the 2024 Cup Series campaign, but he can dominate a race at any turn. Phoenix is one of those tracks he’s pulled off a caper in the past, so it slots in as the perfect track for him to assert his dominance.

He came home P7 in Las Vegas, just missing out on a top five. The Mayetta, New Jersey native will be looking to get back to the driving style that made his last year’s regular season champion over the next couple of weeks.

Tyler Reddick (+1400)

Tyler Reddick came close to capturing his first victory of 2024, but he couldn’t overcome Kyle Larson in Las Vegas. However, that’s nothing to feel bad about, as the Hendrick Motorsports star dominated the field in Sin City.

Moving forward to Phoenix, Reddick came close to a win in the desert last season, finishing P3 last March in Arizona. The 23XI Racing wheelman has shown some serious speed thus far, and Reddick will be hoping to put that to good use as he hopes to take a step forward into the upper echelon of drivers in 2024.

We’ll see if one of them gets the win, or if an unexpected winner clinches their spot in the playoffs this weekend in the desert.
