Charlotte Motor Speedway was going to be the site of Saturday’s Xfinity Series race but there was always going to be a battle with the weather. The race was originally moved up in order to beat out the rain but there was no such luck. Now, the event has been postponed.

NASCAR announced the Xfinity Series race has been moved to Monday, beginning at noon ET. Broadcast information was provided as well, with fans still being able to enjoy the race over the Memorial Day Weekend holiday.

“The NASCAR Xfinity Series Race has been postponed until Monday at noon ET, broadcast live on FS1, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio,” the release said via Daniel McFadin of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

NASCAR had a huge weekend planned, with the Coca-Cola 600 taking place on Sunday night. The trucks ran on Friday, but fans will have to wait an extra couple of days for the Xfinity race.

Weather is projected to continue to be a problem in Charlotte over the weekend. Rain is in the forecast for both Sunday and Monday, meaning it could difficult for NASCAR to navigate around. But for now, all they can do is push back events. Eventually, the rain will have to give up and drivers will get on the track.

NASCAR cancels practice for Coca-Cola 600

The Xfinity Series race was not the only event affected by the weather in Charlotte. Practice and qualifying for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 have been canceled, meaning there will not be an event taking place on Saturday.

NASCAR fans will have to wait for the actual Coca-Cola 600 race to get back to Charlotte Motor Speedway.

As a result of the canceled practice and qualifying runs, the starting lineup will be automatically set according to the rule book instead of performance in qualifiers. Charlotte Motor Speedway will see William Byron in the No. 24 car start from the pole position.

“NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying has been canceled,” a release read. “The starting lineup for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 will be set per the rule book.”

Starting at the front of the pack on Sunday in order are Byron, Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace, Ryan Blaney, Christopher Bell and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Of the first ten drivers in the field — Harvick, Keselowski, Hamlin and Busch are all former winners of the Coca-Cola 600. Hamlin is the current defending winner of the race after last year. Cup Series leader Ross Chastain will start the race 14th.
