NASCAR is returning to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend for the second race in the Round of 12, the Yellawood 500. This race has produced some classics in the past. After a few drivers suffered last week at Texas, Dega provides a chance to not just pick up points, but possibly steal a win and a spot in the Round of 8 as well.

With the opening odds out, there is a veteran at the top of our list. He’s quietly been the only driver in the playoffs with four top-10s this season. In his career, this driver has six wins at Talladega, but no wins in the 2023 season. BetMGM gives the top spot this week to Brad Keselowski at 11-1 odds.

Keselowski pushed his driver and teammate Chris Buescher to the win at Daytona. Will we see Buescher repay the favor in the Yellawood 500?

As far as our NASCAR Playoff drivers go, Ryan Blaney is next at 12-1 odds. He’s won at Dega before and might even need a big race to keep himself from elimination. Speak of the Devil, Buescher is right behind him at 13-1 odds. Perhaps a dominant day for Ford?

Following those three, William Byron, Denny Hamlin, and Bubba Wallace are all at 14-1 odds. After that, Ross Chastain, Kyle Larson, and Kyle Busch are slated in at 20-1 odds.

Then, to round out the playoff drivers in the Yellawood 500, you have Christopher Bell (20-1), Tyler Reddick (28-1), and Martin Truex Jr. (30-1).

With it being Talladega, anything can happen. This might be the first race of the playoffs we see a spoiler.

Spoiler favorites for Yellawood 500

Now that we’ve talked about our 12 NASCAR Playoffs drivers, we can get to the others. Just because they aren’t in the running for the Bill France Cup, we can’t count out the other 24+ drivers in the field.

The defending champion, Joey Logano, is out of the playoffs. However, he’s the top spoiler candidate at 12-1 odds. Not far back is Chase Elliott. He is racing to earn Hendrick Motorsports a team championship. However, he can’t win the trophy at the end of the season. 14-1 odds, Elliott is the defending winner, and might be the best chance at a spoiler on Sunday.

Last season, it took five races until a playoff driver won. This season, we haven’t seen one spoiler take a checkered flag from the postseason competitors.

Daytona 500 champion, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., is a 20-1 favorite to win the Yellawood 500. Austin Cindric is also at 20-1 odds, he is the 2022 Daytona champion. Aric Almirola, as one of those Fords, is also at 20-1 odds.

Is this race going to go to a playoff driver? Or are we going to see our first spoiler of the season, throwing a wrench into the playoff battle as we head into the Charlotte Roval?
