Every summer NBA and NHL teams compete for the Larry O’Brien Trophy and the Stanley Cup. Two of the best trophies in all of sports, basketball and hockey wrap up their seasons around the same time. While there might usually be a ratings competition between the two, they decided to become friends on Monday.

Both Larry and Stanley hit the streets on New York City, visiting multiple tourist attractions. They took the subway together and wound up in Times Square. When lunch time rolled around, a stop at the world famous Katz Deli was the stop. Not too bad of a day for two trophies.

The NBA and NHL put out a video documenting the adventures. Being quite the popular duo, there was even another set of trophies at Katz. MLB and MLS got involved, with the Commissioner’s Trophy and the Phillip F. Anschutz Trophy making a slight appearance.

You can check out the full trailer here.

Both the Larry O’Brien and the Stanley Cup are on tours, stopping at different places. None will be more thrilling than meeting up and spending the day in New York City with each other. While there are no NYC based teams still involved in either playoffs, it’s a perfect spot connect.

The Larry O’Brien Trophy does have a few more stops on its calendar, including a date with the Wanamaker and meeting Taylor Swift on tour. Neither will be as cool as meeting the Stanley Cup though, something many believe to be the coolest trophy in all of sports.

Both NBA, NHL down to their final four teams

As things stand in both the NBA and NHL, they are in their conference finals series. None of have been close either, with four teams winning every single game played. We might be staring at four sweeps in four different series.

Denver finished off Los Angeles in the NBA’s Western Conference, while Boston finds itself down 3-0 against Miami. On the ice, Florida has won three straight against Carolina and Las Vegas is looking to do the same against Dallas on Tuesday.

Once both sports reach the Finals, there will be different start days. The NBA will begin on June 1, most likely at Ball Arena in Denver. Two days later, the NHL will drop the puck on the Stanley Cup Finals where a long-time drought will come to the end for a franchise.
