Netflix dropped its trailer Wednesday for Quarterback, the much-anticipated docuseries that takes a look at three of the biggest signal callers in the NFL — Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota.

The nine-part series premieres July 12 on the popular streamer. It’ll surely fill your football fix until training camps start later in the month. And it promises to show the game from the quarterbacks’ side.

Take a look at some of the teases for this Netflix-NFL partnership. Watch it if only to hear the quality trash talk from Mahomes, who is mic’d up for all the games in 2022. Mahomes, who won his second Super Bowl this past February, likes to preen after plays. But as they say, if it’s true, you ain’t bragging (or taunting).

Mahomes’ production company worked with Netflix for Quarterback

Here’s how Netflix describes the new series:

Quarterback is a first-of-its kind partnership between the NFL and Netflix, offering unprecedented access to three of the league’s top players. The nine-episode series follows quarterbacks who, for the first time ever, are mic’d up for every single game, from the beginning of the 2022 season to its conclusion. And it’s not just life on the field, either: Quarterback takes fans from inside the huddle to inside players’ homes, showing how they navigate the pressures of their professional and personal lives.”

Mahomes played a prominent role as the subject and behind-the-camera guy. He’s got a production company called 2PM. And the company helped produce the series. So did Peyton Manning‘s Omaha Productions.

Mahomes said Netflix and Quarterback will feature his new baby son as well as all the on-field drama. From the clip, you can see one such dramatic moment. Coach Andy Reid wanted to bench Mahomes after Mahomes suffered a sprained ankle in the playoffs.

“Our crew was there for it all,” Mahomes said. “This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage.”

Mahomes also posted the trailer on his own social media accounts. He captioned it “Everybody sees the game days. They don’t see the day-to-day grind.”

Meanwhile, Cousins is the old guy among the three. Viewers will see his viewpoint from his 10th season in the league. We’re betting we’ll witness the genesis of Cousins’ viral moment, when he danced, shirtless, on the Vikings jet as the team returned from a road game.

Quarterback focuses on Mariota’s lone season with the Falcons. And it’ll show the good and the bad. Mariota opened the season as the starter, but finished it on the bench behind rookie Desmond Ridder. In the off-season, Mariota signed a deal with the Eagles.
