Trent Brown has ascended into one of the best offensive lineman in football over the course of his NFL career. However, Brown revealed earlier this week that it almost all came to a screeching halt last season due to an IV mishap.

Last season, Brown was with the Las Vegas Raiders. Prior to a game against the Cleveland Browns, the offensive lineman was going through his normal game-day routine when air entered his bloodstream through the IV. Afterwards, Brown was hospitalized for three days — the offensive tackle stated he nearly went into cardiac arrest before the aforementioned game.

Fast-forward, Brown finally was able to face the Browns this season as a member of the Patriots. After the victory, the former Florida lineman put it all in perspective.

“I almost died before we played them last year,” Brown saidvia NFL.com. “When I was laid out on the floor, I definitely thought about my kids. I even thought about retiring, honestly. It was that scary. I was about to be done with it. Then after it kind of settled down a bit, I was fine.”

As you can see, the experience as a whole was terrifying for Brown. Luckily, he returned later that season for three games — but the Patriots tackle stated the full recovery process took about eight months.

More on Trent Brown

Trent Brown came into the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, drafted in the seventh round out of Florida. He spent three years with the organization, evolving into one of the league’s brightest young tackles.

Then, Bill Belichick worked his magic — trading for Brown prior to the 2018 season. With Brown anchoring their offensive line, the Patriots went onto win the Super Bowl.

After a phenomenal season, Brown decided to cash-in on his hype — signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league. In his first season with the Raiders, Brown was selected to his first ever Pro Bowl.

Then, the nightmare began in his second season in Las Vegas. After the aforementioned IV mishap, Brown’s stock fell — missing most of his second season with Las Vegas.

Once again, Belichick swooped in — trading seventh-round pick to return Brown to New England. While the offensive tackle has been sidelined with a calf injury for most of the year, he’s back and ready to protect rookie quarterback Mac Jones.

Trent Brown has always played his best football with the New England Patriots. We shouldn’t expect anything less now that he finally feels like himself again.
