Following the Pro Bowl on Sunday, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was arrested and booked for battery resulting in substantial bodily harm on Sunday, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

According to David Charns of 8 News Now in Las Vegas, Kamara will not appear on Monday as previously scheduled. Charns said the new court date for the Saints running back is now March 8.

Kamara was scheduled to show up to court at 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday. He will now wait another month before appearing in court in Las Vegas.

A lot more than just the charges are at stake for Kamara as well, from a financial standpoint.

According to Spotrac, Kamara has four years and $59 million remaining on his contract with the Saints. If the running back is found guilty and/or receives a suspension from the NFL, the Saints would no longer be obligated to pay out the contract.

Alvin Kamara arrested at Allegiant Stadium

New details have emerged regarding Kamara. According to TMZ Sports revealed the running back was actually arrested at Allegiant Stadium — the site of the 2022 Pro Bowl.

“TMZ Sports has learned Alvin Kamara was arrested at Allegiant Stadium after the Pro Bowl,” wrote TMZ Sports. “After investigating, cops determined Kamara was allegedly the guy who doled out the beating. They were able to track down the 5x Pro Bowler on Sunday and take him into custody without incident, according to police.”

Evidently, officers just turned on the television to find the man they were looking for. Kamara was taken to Clark County (Nevada) Detention Center and was booked for a felony. The investigation is ongoing.

According to Clark County’s website, Kamara was in custody and was being held on a $5,000 bail as of Sunday.

More information on the situation

According to the press release, around 5:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, a police officer responded to the hospital where a victim reported that they were “battered at a nightclub.” Alvin Kamara then was identified as the suspect, and arrested before being transported to Clark County Detention Center.

The report also describes “substantial bodily harm” which resulted from the battery. The investigation is ongoing as police gather more information on the incident.

Kamara was arrested for the incident just hours after the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl, where he rushed for four catches for 23 yards.

Kamara just finished the second year of a five-year, $75 million contract. With a lot of moving parts ongoing as the Saints begin their new era, Kamara just wanted everything to fit correctly.
