The New Orleans Saints and All-Pro defensive end Cam Jordan agreed to terms on a contract extension for two years, which locks him in through 2025, according to multiple reports. His new deal is worth “up to” $27.5 million guaranteed, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

With the extension, Jordan is likely going to be a Saint for the rest of his career. The 2023 season will be his 13th in the league and with the Saints.

Since New Orleans chose him with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Jordan has the second-most sacks in the NFL. Over 12 seasons so far, he’s racked up 115.5 sacks, and another 5.5 in postseason appearances.

According to Spotrac, Jordan has brought in over $108 million in career earnings from the Saints.

The Cal alum has 639 career regular season tackles. Despite turning 34 last year, Jordan posted 66 tackles last season, one shy of his single-season high, and his 8.5 sacks were his 7th-most in a single season.

Prior to training camp, the veteran defensive end outlined his goals for the Saints this season – which are lofty.

“I expect the Super Bowl,” Jordan said in a SiriusXM NFL Radio interview. “I expect to take Derek Carr, DC4, back to Vegas where he just left and have a return run at the Super Bowl.”

Throughout his career, the Saints legend has made eight Pro Bowls. He’s also a two-time second-team All-Pro and a one-time first-team All-Pro (2017).

Saints anticipating suspension for Alvin Kamara

The Saints are anticipating a suspension for running back Alvin Kamara following a meeting between the ball-career and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday.

In February, a Vegas grand jury indicted the Saints running back for assault from charges initially filed in February 2022. Kamara agreed to the plea deal late last month, days before his trial was scheduled to start in Clark County. Chris Lammons, who recently signed with the Colts, also was charged in the fight. Kamara and Lammons were former teammates with the Saints.

Kamara, a former Tennessee football star, initially pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit battery (a misdemeanor). And he pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of substantial bodily injury.

Kamara is a cornerstone of the Saints offense. He’s the second highest-paid running back in the NFL because of his ability to run the ball and catch it. He also tied the NFL record by scoring six touchdowns in a single game.
