A bad night could get worse quickly for the New York Giants. Already down three scores to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the Giants ruled out defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux due to a possible concussion. The former first-round draft pick was at one point the top choice on the Cowboys’ draft board in 2022 but they wound up snagging lineman Tyler Smith much later.

Thibodeaux had four tackles against the Cowboys before making an early exit. He was out with the team through halftime but ultimately, did not return to the field from the locker room.

The Dallas Cowboys lead the Giants 35-7 with time remaining in the third quarter at AT&T Stadium. It seemed as though Jerry Jones’ team may accomplish a franchise-first with a shutout against New York. The team has never shut out the same opponent twice in a single season, and they’ll continue the trend thanks to a touchdown from Tommy DeVito to Lawrence Cager.

Thibodeaux is having an outstanding year for the Giants so far. Through nine games, he has a career-high 8.5 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss with 27 total tackles and a forced fumble. He’s in his second season with New York after going No. 5 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Oregon.

Cowboys pour on points in first half

Dallas, the home team, was the 16.5-point favorite for the late afternoon game against their NFC East rivals.

There were a myriad of factors for the oddsmakers to consider when assigning the opening odds. First, the Cowboys defeated the Giants in the season-opener in New York 40-0. It was a dominant performance that spelled doom for the Giants’ season.

Next, New York lost quarterback Daniel Jones for the season last week as the former Duke star suffered an ACL tear against the Raiders. Jones has been repeatedly banged up all season long behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league.

The Giants started former Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito who threw a touchdown and two interceptions last week.

Lastly, the Cowboys, despite coming off of a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, have been hot on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Dak Prescott had one of the best games of his career last Sunday, throwing for 374 passing yards with three touchdowns while throwing no interceptions and taking five sacks.
