The New York Jets kept the receipts and are now firing back at the Denver Broncos. Not only did the organization’s social media team get involved, but defensive back Sauce Gardner and injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers also threw some shade following Sunday’s victory.

The Jets defeated the Broncos 31-21 on Sunday, improving to 2-3 on the year while Denver dropped to 1-4. After the game, Gardner took to social media to mock the opponent and Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson.

“Jets Country……LETS RIDE,” Gardner wrote, a shot at Wilson’s promo from the 2022 season.

But it didn’t end there. New York’s social media team also wanted to get involved in the fun. The team posted an image of the face of comedian and actor Kevin James (a popular meme on X), on the body of Broncos head coach Sean Payton. The caption read, “when you lose to the ‘offseason champs.’

It was clearly a shot at the comments made by Payton before the 2023 season started.

“It doesn’t happen often where an NFL team or organization gets embarrassed,” Payton said in the offseason. “And that happened here. Part of it was their own fault, relative to spending so much time trying to win the offseason – the PR, the pomp and circumstance, marching people around and all this stuff.

“We’re not doing any of that. The Jets did that this year. You watch. Hard Knocks, all of it. I can see it coming. Remember when Dan Snyder put that Dream Team together? I was at the Giants, I was a young coach. I thought, ‘How are we going to compete with them? Deion’s (Sanders) there now.’ That team won eight games or whatever. So, listen … just put the work in.”

Jets QB Aaron Rodgers also trolls Broncos

Rodgers might be sidelined with an Achilles injury, but that didn’t stand in the way of the four-time league MVP taking a shot at the Broncos.

Rodgers also referenced the comments made by Payton in the offseason, in which he took a major shot at former Denver head coach and current Jets offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett.

With a post on X, Rodgers simply wrote, “W. #Hackett.”

So, the Jets, Gardner and Rodgers appeared to take this matchup personally. And after the win, they all jumped to the defense of their offensive coordinator.

It probably made Sunday’s win even more special in New York.
