The New York Jets have already acquired an arsenal for injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers but it won’t be complete until they manage to reunite the former Packers great with three-time All-Pro wideout Davante Adams. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Jets want to pursue Adams in the offseason following what’s turned out to be a very disappointing season.

Schefter’s sources also said they believe that the determining factor in whether the Raiders consider trading Adams could be how their season finishes.

“Since naming Antonio Pierce as interim head coach, the Raiders (5-5) have won both of their games and garnered recognition and respect from around the league, while Adams has looked and sounded extremely happy,” Schefter claimed.

The former second-round draft pick is on his way to his fifth 1,000+ yard receiving season this year. He has 64 catches, 741 yards and four touchdowns. He’s managed to do that amid plenty of upheaval from inside the Raiders’ organization.

After his trade to Las Vegas, the former Packers star signed a five-year, $140 million deal, which keeps him locked in with the team through 2026. The Raiders do have a potential out in the contract following the 2024 season, however.

Rodgers and Adams left the Packers as two of the best players in franchise history. The QB ranks No. 1 in career passing touchdowns (475) and second in total yards (59,055), while the wideout is second in receiving scores (73) and fourth in yardage (8,121).

Jets benching Rodgers’ backup Zach Wilson

Following the New York Jets’ third consecutive loss, head coach Robert Saleh is reportedly planning to bench quarterback Zach Wilson in favor of backup QB Tim Boyle. Wilson left the team’s loss to the Bills early on Sunday, leaving the backup to close out the game.

The Jets play in the very first Black Friday game this week on Amazon Prime video. They host the Miami Dolphins who are 2-2 in their last four games but sitting at 7-3 on the season and first in the AFC East.

In just over one quarter of play versus Buffalo, the former Packers quarterback completed seven of 14 pass attempts for 33 yards while taking one sack and throwing one interception. Before hitting the bench, Wilson had seven completions on 15 attempts for 81 yards while taking five sacks and throwing one touchdown and one interception.

Wilson’s been sacked 38 times this season in just 10 games. He has more interceptions (7) than touchdowns (6) but he has a career-high completion percentage at 59.2%. It’s still tied for the lowest among the league’s starting QBs, however.
