Well, everybody thought the 2024 NFL Draft order had been set. The NFL even sent out a memo notifying teams of the compensatory picks they would be receiving. Nice late draft selections were added into the mix, giving a handful of teams extra picks to work with.

However, there has reportedly been an error in the process involving the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, Cincinnati will receive a third-round selection at No. 97 overall. Originally, two sixth-round picks were supposed to head the Bengals way. But due to a mistake from the NFL, they will lower their total number of picks but move up by three rounds.

“The NFL has updated the 2024 draft order after finding an error in the compensatory picks,” Jones said via X. “Cincinnati is now receiving a third-round selection instead of the first of their two sixth round selections. The Bengals now have the 97th overall pick.”

Pick No. 97 originally belonged to the Philadelphia Eagles. Just two other selections were behind them in the third round, truly being near the bottom. However, Cincinnati will now slide everyone down a spot and make the first three rounds a total of 100 picks.

Cincinnati will now own four picks inside of the top 100 and attempt to an to an already loaded roster. Not many have gotten past Patrick Mahomes in the AFC but back in 2021, the Bengals did. Adding talent is critical toward doing it again.
