The NFL slapped 49ers tight end George Kittle with a hefty fine, Friday. His offense was wearing a shirt with an obscene word in regards to the Dallas Cowboys.

Kittle wore the gray shirt, which said “F**k Dallas” under his jersey Sunday night during his team’s 42-10 win over the Cowboys. He scored three touchdowns, including the first two of the game, so Kittle got a lot of screen time on primetime.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, quoting an unidentified source, said the fine is $13,699.

George Kittle expected fine from NFL

George Kittle was prepared for a fine. He even mentioned it during an interview on The Pat McAfee Show.

“I wore a personalized T-shirt, maybe an inappropriate word,” Kittle said. “So, it is what it is. It was a decision I made, if they want to fine me, they fine me.”

He added that he wouldn’t change his choice in undershirts. “I’d do it again.”

So why did Kittle feel the need to wear such a shirt? Well, call him a team historian who is obsessed with some of the quirkier details. He went back to 1994 for the perfect troll, back when trolls were dolls with wild hair as opposed to insults without much accountability.

He noted that linebacker Gary Plummer wore a similar shirt in the 1994 NFC title game against the Cowboys.

“I don’t make things up,” George Kittle said. “We stand on the shoulders of the 49ers before us. It’s something I’ve seen my whole career, and finally, I just wanted to channel it.”

Some Cowboys grumbled about the shirt. But it’s difficult to say much when you lose by 32 points. Linebacker Micah Parsons brought it up earlier this week during his podcast.

“George Kittle had three touchdowns on us and he posted this thing to IG,” Parsons said. “He said, ‘F*** Dallas.’ I just feel like he’s making it way more personal than it had to be. Kittle’s my guy, but I’m gonna say this: Laugh now, cry later.

“We got something for that. Just trust. If we see them again, just trust. We gonna put it just like that. I ain’t gonna put too much on it. If you’re gonna make it personal, we can make it personal. That’s cool.”

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan shrugged it off, saying the shirt was a detail in his tight end’s unusual persona.

“[It’s] just Kittle, WWE stuff, entertainment,” Shanahan told reporters. “Not really much, just smiled at it.”
