The action came extra early last Sunday in London. But the NFL still took note of a near fight between Odell Beckham Jr and Jeffery Simmons.

In fact, the league fined OBJ twice for extracurricular unnecessary roughness. One Beckham fine was $21,844. The other was $11,473. The league also tagged Simmons, the Titans defensive end, for $11,473.

Here’s video of the second Odell Beckham violation.

Odell Beckham Jr took issue with Jeffery Simmons hitting Zay Flowers too low after a reception

The near altercation between Odell Beckham and Jeffery Simmons happened in the second quarter. And OBJ said it all started when Simmons tackled Zay Flowers too low for Beckham’s taste.

And of course, there’s also video. Check it out.

Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey talked about Beckham and Simmons on his podcast this past week. He said that Beckham and Simmons also bowed up to each other after the game with teammates keeping them separated.

OBJ said he needed to check Simmons to protect Flowers, his “little bro.” The Ravens drafted Flowers, the former Boston College star, in the first round of April’s draft. This is also the first season in Baltimore for OBJ.

“It’s nothing really to talk about,” Beckham told reporters. “It’s probably a small hot topic right now, but it’s good. We got a helmet, shoulder pads. We’re out here playing football. This is not MMA. I watched him look at the play, then look at Zay’s legs and kind of dive on it. I just didn’t like that. I’m going to protect him. This is my guy. This is my little bro, love him to death. I’m going to always have his back, period. And if that leads me into trouble, it is what it is. I just didn’t like that.”

Officials actually flagged Simmons 15 yards on the play. But the NFL found both players at fault. Earlier this week, OBJ said he wasn’t concerned about the altercation any more. It probably hurt a little bit when he received word of the fine. Plus, the Ravens beat the Titans 24-16 to up their record to 4-2.

“It was dead when we won,” Beckham said. “Send them on the way home. We had a great flight home. We’re worried about Detroit. We’re not worried about them. See them in the playoffs, maybe.”

The Ravens play host to the 5-1 Lions, Sunday.
