NFL free agent Jadeveon Clowney could be leaving one AFC North team for another. Per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, the veteran defensive end visited the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.

Clowney, a nine-year veteran of the league, spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection is still available heading into the 2023 season and could be a nice asset for a team looking to content for a Super Bowl. Baltimore would fit that category.

Clowney spent the first five seasons with the Houston Texans (2014-18) prior to short stops with the Seattle Seahawks (2019) and Tennessee Titans (2020).

The news of Clowney’s visit to Baltimore comes as the NFL prepares for its first big week in the preseason. A total of 16 games will be played between Thursday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 13. Baltimore begins preseason action against the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.

Could Jadeveon Clowney be right fit with Ravens?

While Clowney has proven to be a productive defensive end during his career, there are some risks involved. He’s entering his 10th season in the league and has battled injuries at times while in the league.

But if the former South Carolina stalwart wants to compete for a Super Bowl, Baltimore might be a great spot to do it. With Lamar Jackson returning and Odell Beckham Jr. on the offensive side, there’s a lot of hype surrounding the franchise in 2023.

Clowney enters this year after playing in 12 games for the Browns last fall. He finished the year with 28 tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Those aren’t the best numbers he’s produced.

But just two seasons ago, the defensive end posted some of the best numbers of his career. Clowney racked up nine sacks for Cleveland in 2021, tied for the second-highest total of his time in the NFL. He also ended the year with 37 total stops and two forced fumbles.

If he’s still got something left in the tank, he could be a great addition for the Ravens.

Over the course of his nine-year NFL career, Clowney has accumulated 320 tackles with 43 sacks. He’s also forced 13 fumbles, recovered eight and scored four defensive touchdowns. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection, making the trip in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

We’ll see if the former No. 1 overall selection winds up in Baltimore or if another team picks up the phone in the next few weeks.
